Our bullet resistant materials can withstand multi-shot assault, absorbing the total impact energy without spalling. This allows for complete vision, which can be critical for an appropriate response in the event of an attack.
Our bullet resistant barriers are custom designed in Australia to ensure that staff are working in a secure and safe environment. The cost of one of our safety screen products installed across your counters is minimal compared to the psychological impact of failing to ensure there is a safe workplace of your employees.
POLYCARBONATE IS A SECURITY SCREEN MATERIAL THAT IS 250 TIMES STRONGER THAN GLASS
Bullet resistant protection from handguns or rifles
The Genesis Anti Jump Barriers bullet resistant products can withstand multi-shot assaults, absorbing the total impact energy without spalling, physical attacks and gunfire from weapons ranging from 9mm handguns to high powered rifles. We can use different grades of bullet resistant material depending on your location and install them into existing counter or reception areas.
An example of the material available for use is the Hygard BR1250 ballistic grade sheet which is a 1.250 ̋, 4-ply polycarbonate laminate that meets UL 752 Level 3 rating for .44 Magnum ballistic attacks, HP White TP 0500 Level lV and ASTM F 1233 Class 5. Unlike glass-clad products, this all polycarbonate laminate resists spalling or white-out after repeated high force and ballistic impacts which can help retain visibility of a threat during an attack.
Bullet resistant barriers can be installed on existing counters
Yes, we have an in-house design team that can work closely with your shopfitting team or interior designer to incorporate our bullet resistant barrier seamlessly into your existing property. It means our barriers can be easily retro fitted to upgrade your existing staff safety mechanisms rather than replacing everything.
You can use our bullet resistant barriers in any type of property
Our anti jump barriers have been designed in Australia to suit local use in all States of Australia. Each one is custom built to suit any type of application that requires extra safety whether that is a service station, police station or even a local school reception area. Each type of barrier screen has its unique advantages and applications which are applicable to most industry sectors. Our design team can help you make the most appropriate selection.
Our Guardian 1 for example has an opening across the bottom of the safety screen to allow a staff member to accept paperwork from any position behind the counter. In comparison our Guardian 2 has a dedicated transaction slot that has a much smaller aperture although both of these anti jump barrier products have the same level of protection. Our Intermediary anti jump barrier is often used in places like banks or Government Departments with its single surface from countertop to ceiling design.
We can custom design any of our security barrier products to suit any size location, countertop or reception area by using our Australian design and manufacturing facilities.
BEWARE OF CHEAP MATERIALS LIKE PLASTIC OR ACRYLIC, WE ONLY USE BALLISTIC RATED POLYCARBONATE
250 times tougher than glass & virtually unbreakable
Our bullet resistant barriers are made out of ballistic rated polycarbonate which incredibly stronger than plastic or glass. Polycarbonate is more resilient compared to the cheaper acrylic materials sometimes used, thus making it ideal for demanding applications like bullet-resistant barriers. After many years of experience making safety barriers we chose to only produce them from high impact polycarbonate substrate which is up to 250 times tougher than glass and virtually unbreakable. Polycarbonate will not shatter and can withstand high velocity impacts from objects or people. Apart from being a much stronger material, polycarbonate is actually lighter than glass which makes it easier to be used for anti jump barrier applications from design to installation.
Beware of using plastics
Although beware – while acrylic and polycarbonate are two of the most popular clear plastics they have very different benefits. Acrylic may look ‘shinier’ & might be cheaper to buy but it can crack or shatter under impact as it is a more rigid material. Even more important to consider when getting quotes is the fact that acrylic is only about 10 times stronger than glass thus nowhere near as strong as polycarbonate. Another factor many people don’t consider is polycarbonate is highly resistant to chemicals such as petrol or acids which adds to its ability to provide protection from things other than objects.
Maximum bullet resistant protection
This is why for all our variations we only use polycarbonate substrates to ensure you receive maximum protection for you & your staff with a material that will withstand most impacts while most likely not needing to be replaced in the case of an incident occurring. Our team can ensure the framework compliments your retail bank location with choices of custom made selections from stainless steel, steel or aluminium depending on the environment it is being installed into

PROTECTION FROM ARMED HOLD UPS
Bank robberies still occur in Australia
The total recorded number of robbery victims attacked in any location in Australia has more than doubled since 1993 (when national crime statistics were first collated), with similar rates of increase in both armed and unarmed robbery (ABS 2002b). Most people will think of bank hold ups when a robbery is mentioned and there is good reason for that with the highest numbers recorded in the late 1990’s.
Of the 808 incidents reported since 1998 the number of offenders involved in the hold-up more than half (55 per cent) were committed by lone offenders, about 25 per cent by pairs and around 20 per cent by three or more robbers (that is, gangs) Believe it or not even as recent as 2001 there were over 458 people victimised in a bank. So while there has been a decline in the last 30 years there are still incidents that occur.
Armed bank robberies with firearms
For some of the more serious bank robbery attempts there has been a firearm involved and the type has varied over the years. Pistols were used more often than long arms (rifles and shotguns) in Australian bank hold-ups in the early to mid-1980s, but this reversed in the later 1980s. Between 1998 and 2002, pistols were once again used in the majority (68 per cent) of the bank holdups involving firearms which was similar to other forms of crime using guns.
Bullet resistant security screen options
Our locally manufactured bullet resistant security screens can withstand multi-shot assaults, absorbing the total impact energy without spalling, physical attacks and gunfire from weapons ranging from 9mm handguns to high powered rifles.
TALK TO VISITORS EASILY
Security barriers that enable interaction
Genesis Anti Jump Barriers can design solutions that include bullet resistant designs but still enable interactions with visitors. In the example below we installed brand new countertop screens that were layered while also including sections that would allow for conversations to be heard.
The custom made counter area also included floor to countertop protection to minimise any chance of lower level ballistic attacks. This was all done with an aesthetic that blended with the rest of the police station location but can just as easily be applied to other locations.
