counter screens offer a better LEVEL OF PROTECTION & SUPERIOR security solution
Robberies in service stations and retail stores with counter cable security systems
At Genesis Anti Jump Barriers we often get asked if we can install a counter cable security system for retail shops like petrol stations, convenience stores and other similar locations. In most cases the owners are trying to minimise their costs while trying to install a security system to try and protect their staff. Although installing a cable security system can be considered a false economy when you think about it. We actually chose to not offer this type of solution in our range even though it comes at an attractive price point to property owners. In our view this security solution for retail shops doesn’t offer an adequate level of deterrent or more importantly, protective safety for staff.
Why would you try and save a few dollars when installing a counter security system that can potentially risk a life or cause long lasting trauma for staff? That is why our counter screens are much better solutions as they offer higher levels of protection which provides greater security for your staff and merchandise while still being visually attractive to shoppers.
Real life examples of robberies at locations with cable security systems
The photos shown above are from actual robberies recorded on CCTV security cameras at locations that were using cable security systems or no counter protection at all.
Why counter screens are a safer solution compared to countertop security cables
You can see from just these four examples just how ineffective a cable countertop security solution can be in retail shops. The large gaps offer little to no resistance and still enable simple or quick access for an intruder to grab items then run off. Our focus at Genesis Anti Jump Barriers is not about trying to come up with the cheapest security solution available in Australia, but rather, provide a range of solutions that focus on keeping your staff safe from physical threats, injury and trauma.
That is why we have designed our full length counter security screens to prevent access while also being extremely strong, enough to withstand impacts from a fist or angry individual in most cases, and made from incredible materials like polycarbonate which is durable, tough & almost unbreakable.
Our counter security screens have been designed in Australia to suit local use in all States of Australia. Each one is custom built to suit any type of retail application that requires extra safety whether that is a service station, police station or even a local school reception area. Each type of barrier screen has its unique advantages and applications which are applicable to most industry sectors. Our design team can help you make the most appropriate selection.
BEWARE OF CHEAP MATERIALS LIKE PLASTIC OR ACRYLIC, WE ONLY USE BALLISTIC RATED POLYCARBONATE
250 times tougher than glass & virtually unbreakable
Our bullet resistant barriers are made out of ballistic rated polycarbonate which incredibly stronger than plastic or glass. Polycarbonate is more resilient compared to the cheaper acrylic materials sometimes used, thus making it ideal for demanding applications like bullet-resistant barriers. After many years of experience making safety barriers we chose to only produce them from high impact polycarbonate substrate which is up to 250 times tougher than glass and virtually unbreakable. Polycarbonate will not shatter and can withstand high velocity impacts from objects or people. Apart from being a much stronger material, polycarbonate is actually lighter than glass which makes it easier to be used for anti jump barrier applications from design to installation.
Beware of using plastics
Although beware – while acrylic and polycarbonate are two of the most popular clear plastics they have very different benefits. Acrylic may look ‘shinier’ & might be cheaper to buy but it can crack or shatter under impact as it is a more rigid material. Even more important to consider when getting quotes is the fact that acrylic is only about 10 times stronger than glass thus nowhere near as strong as polycarbonate. Another factor many people don’t consider is polycarbonate is highly resistant to chemicals such as petrol or acids which adds to its ability to provide protection from things other than objects.
